Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Resident Program

Welcome! NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull is part of NYC Health + Hospitals, the largest public health system in the United States. Our 347-bed hospital is located in North Brooklyn at the literal intersection of three Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs): the Bushwick, Bedford-Stuyvesant and East Williamsburg neighborhoods. We treat over 100,000 patients a year, most of whom are underserved and more than one-third are uninsured.  We care for all patients regardless of immigration status or ability to pay. Half of our patients were born outside the United States. Half of our patients are Hispanic, one-third Black, and less than 10% each White and Multiracial.  Our patients speak over 100 different languages, with Spanish being the most requested language.

At Woodhull Medical Center OMFS, our residents are exposed to a diverse set of patients and practice full scope oral and maxillofacial surgery including dentoalveolar surgery, management of facial trauma, dental implantology, diagnosis and treatment of TMJ disorder and oral pathology, and anesthesia training. We host a busy outpatient clinic with 5 operatories and a sedation room. Additionally, we manage our own inpatient service, have operating room privileges, and respond to hospital and emergency consults. Our residents leave Woodhull confident in their skills and abilities. In the past our residents have moved on to private practice, academic institutions, and fellowships.
